A practical talk about improving the Value-to-Pain Ratio of SysML and MBSE work.
Pain-Free MBSE is organized around the pain points systems engineers encounter when applying MBSE and SysML. The reason is simple: the unfortunate reality is that MBSE, when done incorrectly, can be painful. Gratuitous complexity and time-consuming practices can bog down schedules, sometimes to the point where a project feels like it is undergoing rigor mortis.
Not all modeling practices are created equal. The good news is that a relatively small percentage of modeling practices cause a large percentage of the pain. This presentation identifies common pain points and shows practical ways to eliminate them while preserving the practices that provide real engineering value. Along the way, we walk through portions of the design and simulation of an Apollo Lunar Lander to illustrate the Pain-Free approach in practice.
The goal is simple: make more effective use of SysML and MBSE by keeping the rigor while eliminating the mortis.
